Kuzma Announces Grants for Projects in 39th District

January 20, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced he helped secure more than $2.74 million in grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for 17 projects in the 39th Legislative District.

“I’m proud to champion these projects,” Kuzma said. “They address critical needs in our community. Delayed maintenance and improvements end up being more costly down the line. I’m pleased we are getting these done now.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available in the Commonwealth. Municipalities receiving MTF grants are:

• Elizabeth Borough – $252,503 to replace a pedestrian stairway connecting South Third Avenue to Center Avenue.
• Jefferson Hills Borough – $550,000 to rehabilitate a section of Peters Creek Road between Oak Road and Gill Hall Road.

• West Elizabeth Sanitary Authority – $55,250 to upgrade the Ferry Street Lift Station to communicate with the authority in order to monitor operating data and receive alarms should failures occur.

Local Share Account grants come from Act 71 of 2004, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Those receiving these funds are:

• Union Township – $77,450 to demolish buildings at a decommissioned Cold War-era military site in the township.
• Union Township – $192,888 to restore the streambank at Pleasant Stream Park.

• Elizabeth Township – $60,800 to purchase a skid steer for use by the public works department.
• W.M.B.U. – $150,000 to renovate the Workingmens Mutual Beneficiary Union building in Blythedale to increase the longevity of the building and allow for it to serve as an ADA-compliant warming shelter in emergencies.
