Kuzma Effort Creates Fishing Opportunity for Youth, Handicapped

June 10, 2024

HARRISBURG – On Saturday, Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) led a group of volunteers to create a youth and handicapped fishing area in South Park Township on a decommissioned bridge over Peters Creek.

“My office began working with PennDOT last year on a beautification agreement to make the project a reality,” Kuzma said. “The bridge was covered in graffiti and litter surrounded the area. It’s wonderful to turn this eyesore into something positive for the community.”

Peters Creek is one of the most densely stocked trout streams in Allegheny County. In addition to restoring the fishing spot, the volunteer group also cleaned and painted over the graffiti on Green Man’s Tunnel nearby. Kuzma paid for all paint and materials for the project. There were no taxpayer dollars spent on this fishing area.

The 39th Legislative District includes Elizabeth, Forward and South Park townships and Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; and Union and part of Carroll townships, Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs, and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.
